Giving cool real estate products, tools and news a Big Encore

Sun Rise

It’s amazing how much has changed in the past 4 years. It’s truly staggering actually.

When I launched this blog in early 2011 Social Media was considered a new thing to Real Estate. No one knew much about it. People were excited about Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. There were industry talks on how to improve SEO, how to blog, and how to build followers. But soon Realtors began to learn that likes and followers were vanity metrics and they weren’t translating into more business.

Today Realtors are far more sophisticated. Expectations have changed and it’s no longer enough to just have a new idea.

With that in mind I will be relaunching this blog. Instead of releasing writing weekly posts or having guest authors, like I once did, I will be writing a new post about once per month. The topic will be to feature new and old technologies that are effective and are helping Realtors succeed in today’s digital and real world market place.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. It should be a good one.

We first wrote about the real estate open house iPad app Open Home Pro here, and since then version 2 was just approved on the Apple App store!

This is great news for lovers of Open Home Pro. It is an iPad app to manage your open houses and convert more leads! We hope you are excited as we are. We give OpenHome Pro a Big Encore! Set to raise $230 million Set to raise $230 million

HomeAway, a vacation rental site, filed to sell as much as $230 million in shares on its initial public offering (IPO). The service currently offers over 230,000 vacation rentals to choose from. At $28 per month, or about $300 per year, to list a vacation rental property the numbers add up.

With increasing pressure from competitor AirBnb, HomeAway says it will use some of the money to acquire business and add product lines. Over it’s 6 year life, HomeAway has stayed very well funded. In 2005 they raised $500 million through Austin Ventures and another $200 million in 2008 from Redpoint, along with Palo Alto, California-based Technology Crossover Ventures and Institutional Venture Partners.

According to Bloomberb, This is one of the largest IPO’s for a venture backed firm in a long time.
